Mahatma Gandhi was a prominent leader in India' s struggle for independence from British rule.he is best knows for his philosophy of nonviolent resistance and civil disobedience born on 2 October 1869 in porbandar,he later studied law in London and worked in south africa where he fought against racial discrimination.  Gandhi emphasized self reliance rural development and the upliftment of the marginalized. his efforts played a crucial role in mobilizing the masses for the freedom movment leading to India gaining independence in 1947.
